1. Who are the founders of Superego?
James He, Tommie Lark, and Matt Narkaus - Wesleyan University (Middletown, CT) 2010
2. What was your childhood like? Where did you grow up?
The founders of Superego are truly cut from a different cloth™…
Matthew: (Montclair, NJ) I was always into music, style, and having fun. A lot of good morals and values were instilled in me by my parents that have helped me navigate life and made me the person I am today. Superego has allowed me to live out my childhood passions by helping me channel my creativity through many different mediums, whether it be music, creative writing, or digital art and design.
Tommie: (Lynn, Haverhill, Amherst, MA). Growing up with teenage parents, and then losing my dad young, my childhood was a little different. As the oldest, I quickly assumed the role of the “man of the house” and since then has sparked my drive and self-motivation for greatness. Growing up I was lucky enough to be surrounded by great teachers, mentors, coaches and friends to help keep me on the right track.
3. Where did the name "Superego" originate from?
The three founders majored in Psychology, which inspired the name of our brand. The term Superego has a double meaning, but literally meaning the part of a person's mind that acts as a self-critical conscience, reflecting social standards learned from parents, teachers and coaches.
4. What was that "moment" you felt your brand gained some mainstream notoriety?
We felt the brand slowly gaining notoriety as we were getting major features in online magazines such as The Source and Green Label, however the “moment” that was a turning point was when our Kickstarter campaign was successfully funded. It was then that we knew a lot of eyes were on us.

Sustainable, Embracing, Conscious
6. Who were the innovators and trendsetters you respected back in the day coming up?
Pharrell, OutKast, Kanye West, Steve Jobs
7. Favorite sports teams?
Matthew: Los Angeles Lakers
Tommie: New England Patriots
8. Favorite musicians?
Matthew: Nas, Tupac, Andre 3000, Kanye West, Jadakiss, Dipset
Tommie: Tupac, Biggie, Jadakiss, Juelz Santana, Matt Narks and Nas
9. One person in the world living or deceased that you could have 15 minutes to sit down with and pick their brain, who would it be?
Matthew: Martin Luther King Jr.
Tommie: Bob Marley
10. Where do you see the "Superego" brand in the next 5 years?
Superego will be the marquee hemp lifestyle brand and go to marketplace for quality hemp products. We will continue to grow our global community, changing the very fabric of reality.
11. What's the biggest piece of advice you can give a small business owner who's building their brand from the ground up?
Authenticity: Stay true to yourself, don’t compromise your vision. People love transparency and something real they can relate to. It’s easy to sniff out something that's not genuine, so be yourself and be true to your brand; be persistent on your journey and value the process. Stay #CFADC
